you can go to the registrar and ask them to add your daughter into the mortgage. For that you need to fill the title form. The process is not that complicated.

You need to add your daughter's name first to the title of the home before you approach the lender to get your daughter added to the mortgage.

Hi Vickij,

Welcome to MortgageFit Forums.

You can't add your daughter's name to mortgage on your own. Once a mortgage is taken a borrower signs a note of promise to repay the debt and the mortgage is the document that secures the debt.

Once the borrower fails to repay the lender can foreclose on the home. To add your daughter's name to the mortgage your daughter must be added to the title of the home first so that she becomes one of the owners of the home.

After getting your daughter added to the title her name can be added to the mortgage through refinancing. Contact your lender and ask him for suggestions.

God bless you.

I want to add my daugher's name to the title. Is a quit claim deed the solution? I'm confused as to a quit claim deed or others say adding name to title. will a quit claim deed give my daugher 1/2 the ownership?

Hi Rosie,

Welcome to MortgageFit Forums.

You can add your daughter to the title of your property through a quit claim deed.

Actually through a quit claim deed you can transfer as much of your interest in the house as you want to your daughter.

Yes, she will be entitled to get 1/2 ownership after getting added to the deed. Consult with a real estate attorney for proper suggestion and in the process of preparing the deed.

God bless you.

Samantha
