Hi mylo,
how much did your girlfriend owe considering the principal loan amount and the interest charges? didn't the contract mention how much she needs to pay? _________________ Need help choosing the right loan? Get free consultation from community lenders/consultant

this one is a real doozie. My husband and I received 400.00 deposit from Geneva Roth and did not even apply for a payday loan. They also deducted 480.00 before i could block them. I had informed them by phone that we did not request this loan or even sign any loan papers. They continued to attempt withdrawls of 120.00 every 2 weeks untill they finally managed to overdraft my bank account 1900.00. Now I am receiving harrassing phone calls.
As they are harassing you over phone, this is against FDCPA. So you can file complaint them with the Federal Trade Commission. But I feel you should close you back account first so that they cannot take away money from your account any more. _________________ Good is the Enemy of Great.

Hi melanin,
From where are you getting harassing phone calls? is Geneva Roth making such calls or are they collection agencies to whom the company as sold off the debt account? If they are collection agencies, well then the FDCPA protects you against such practices. But the FDCPA doesn't protect you from creditors' harassing calls.
You should file a complaint as Niicss have suggested. But as of now the company would ask for payment. Is it possible that you talk to the bank officials so that they help you protect your account?

Hi sable,
You should talk to the bank officials requesting them to block your account or take any step in order to protect it from any kind of illegal withdrawal of money once the loan is paid off.
Thanks

What name shows on the debit that come out of your account? Sometimes these places will debit under different name to make it harder to block them.

I too have been hit by this company. I did not ask for a loan from them. I never received loan papers from them. Monday my account was credited for 200 from DJR Group whom I did not ask for a loan from either, and Tues there was a debit of 130 from Gen-Roth Vent pending. My bank told me there was nothing they could do since it was pending and that I had to wait until it posted. I asked them how this ACH worked...Doesn't the company have to show the bank a signed document from the customer in order to be able to pull money from the account? All they would say was that they protect my account and don't want to see anyone take my money either, but wouldn't answer directly. I work the night shift so I saw all of this at 2 am...I am so greatful for these posts...I searched the name Gen-Roth Vent and found you. I am going to my bank later to talk to the fraud department.
How do I file a complaint with the FTC and the BBB and the Attorney General? I don't even know where to start.

You can find a FTC complaint form in the given link:
www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
You can fill out the form and submit it. I think they will take action against the company.
To file a complaint with the state attorney general, you will have to fill out the complaint form. You can get the form in the given link:
You will have to chose your state by clicking on it and then fill out the form.
Thanks,

I tried to call LoanPoint USA during normal business hours to pay my loan in full and was on hold for over 2 hours with no answer. I had emailed them that extension form 2 days prior to my payment date just to pay the extension, but decided to pay the whole thing off and get rid of the recurring debt. Don't you know I went on the website while waiting for somebody to answer the phone to try to change the amount and they had some kind of block on there where I couldn't? I checked my account the following day and, to no surprise, they only took out the extension fee. It was my understanding that the stupid form had to be turned in 4 business days prior to your scheduled payment or they would take the whole thing...stupid me! I see now that they just take it upon themselves to automatically extend the loan. They will get the original amount of the loan, but you best believe they will not get another extension fee out of me when I tried dilligently to contact them to pay the blame thing off. Schisters, scammers, rip off artists, loan sharks. They are all of those and a bag of chips! Just sya no to Geneva Roth LoanPointUSA!
Thanks for sharing your opinion in the community. One has to be extremely careful while taking loans from these companies. If you feel that you are being charged for wrong reasons, then you can file a complaint with the state attorney general. _________________ Procrastination is the enemy of your financial sucess
Yes, you should definitely file a complaint with your state attorney general and also try to block the bank account from which they are taking out the money.
Thanks. _________________ Good is the Enemy of Great.
