They should not be calling you at work, if you go to the debt verification web page, you can read all the rules that apply to debt collection and one of them is not to call at work.

The payday loan company or the collector may call at work but they are not suppose to inform the empoyer that the person has taken a loan from their company. May be they can call you at work to get the address or other details but certainly not any kind of harassment.

OMG! I am so gratefull for these bogs you have no idea and want to thank all of you for your advice and research. I woke up this morning to find that I had money deposited into my bank account that I did not aurthorize so I did some research and wanted to call the company and find out who they are. Well with my search I pulled up COUNTLESS blogs just like this one about this specific company. Thank God you guys had put the number on here for me to call because I wouldnt have any idea and would be stressing when they start to debit money. It is all true the CSR I spoke to told me that even though you pay the finance charge it doesnt go taward your payday advance and even if you pay taward the payday advance you will still continue to be charged interest and the interest is high high high I told them to please remove the credit from my account even though I need the money I dont need it that bad. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

You're most welcome Christina!

I agree that the interest rates are indeed high to pay for and that's the reason one has to be extremely careful dealing with payday loans. But one thing Christina, this isn't a blog - we are actually a community trying to help people with mortgage and related financial issues.

Anyone can join this community , no matter how little you know of mortgage or credit or personal finance. We have different forums to help people on different issues. So whichever forum you feel like, you can participate and earn dollars, rewards and get recognized.

Feel free to put down your views here.

Hello I just tried to get information concerning this company taking money out of my account for a 300.00 payloan and I have paid back more than enough money to this company. Got ahold of an operator who would not talk to me. I am calling my bank and stopping payment on this then I am going to call my attorney and the attorney general of Iowa. Can't get a straight answer and to many phone numbers for this company. THis is a scam or a loan shark company and they will be caught.

Hi,

It is better that you are sharing your experiences with the community. When people see how they are cheating people, they will stay away from these types of "loan shark company".

Best of luck,

I applied for a payday loan over six months ago, something that I intensely regret. I got the money, and called them several times for the email requesting to be able to pay it in full. Never got it. I was charged $90 every single week (or at least twice a week) for now more than six months. I was able to place a stop payment on my bank from Geneva Roth, so my money would be returned every time they charged. Now they are calling me (a woman named Mrs. Mithchell) telling me that I have to pay $120 twice a week, since I know owe $1200. They call me everyday, and threaten me by saying they will send my file to attorneys, and mess up my social security, and even take this to legal matters. I am 26 years old, made a big mistake, and now don't even have the money to pay $1200. I did have the $300 to pay back, but they never sent the file!!! I do not know what to do. I payed one payment of $120 but I am really scared they will do something with fraud. I live in CT. Anyone can help PLEASE!! I am very desperate....I am a student with very limited income.

Hi TRIPPIN,

Welcome to the forum.

I think it cannot be legal to obtain money from personal account of any person without his authorization. I will suggest you to file complaints in the Attorney General's office in your states.

Hope it will work for you and stop them from obtaining money from your personal account.

Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best of luck,
Larry

So I made a huge mistake by trying to apply for one of the payday loans. After being approved by a couple of companies, I decided against calling any of them back to approve the payday loan. Then come to find that a company that didn't e-mail me, deposited money into my account. This past Friday they debited my account. Both without my authorization or notification. (they do have personal account information from the application) The name of the company from my bank statement is Centruion that charged my account. I'm not too sure if anyone has heard anything about them, but I googled them and it brought me to a site similar to this one and one of the posts said that the company is Loan Point, then I read that Loan Point is the same as Geneva Roth. I'm not too sure what to do at this point since I don't know which number to call back.

I left the above message, but if anyone can please help me I don't know what to do. I'm already a struggling college student and I didn't intentionally want any of this to happen, and now I don't even know how to track down this "company" if thats what you can it.

Hi Manda,

Welcome to the forum.

This kind of scam is a daily news now. You should have to be aware and do not give your bank info to anyone.
