I too am a dumb person who took out a loan with this company in early 2007. I have tried to contact this company but no luck as I don't have the same email or job as when I applied. Actually I was originally in WI and now have moved to Iowa. I still have the same checking info though that they used to give me $300... I pay $180 each month to them, have way paid off the principal many times over. Why can't they do like other places and put some of the money toward the principal??? I thought that was what they did. My surprise not!

Welcome,

Better pay them your due debt and claim a release of debt letter from them. They have harassed so many people. So better stay away from them in future if they do not improve their reputation.

Let me know if you have any more queries.

This company has been taking $90.00 every 2 weeks for the last 10 months on a $300.00 loan I never asked for. I can't seem to get thru on the phone to correct this matter. This company takes advantage of you, the you can't get in touch with them while they drain your bank account. What can be done to stop them from taking any more money they don't deserve?

Hi Becky,

Welcome to the forum.

I think you should inform your bank about this and also close your account so that Geneva Roth Cap cannot take out money from your account any more. If Geneva Roth Cap calls you then you can just pay them off whatever you owes to them.

People should get aware and stay away from this company.

Best of luck,
Larry

Hi ann benjmain,

Welcome to the forum.

You can close your account and also file a complaint in the attorney general's office in your state. I would rather suggest to stay away from this companies.

I would like somebody to please help me with this company whom I know nothing about. I ended up with $400.00 in my account which I thought was from the original Payday loan for which I applied with another company and it turned out that I do not have any way to contact these people. If someone has Info. Please Share with me 956-607-0990

I have taken a payday loan as well. Since I have taken the loan I had something happen to make me believe that my checking account info was in breach of hacking. I closed the account immediately but some how my bank allowed the deposit of $200 and the following day I received loan papers from GRC. I have since tried to contact them via email and by phone to let them know of my situation. that was Dec 17th. Today is the 1st of may and I received a voice mail stating I needed to call them back about allegations against me. I called them and they were rude, Obnoxious and were screaming over the phone at me. Before they would identify themselves they wanted my social security, I refused to give it because I didn't know who I was talking to. This is where the hostility began. They called me a liar, they threatened me with legal action, and I laughed right back at them and the nasty woman on the other line slammed the phone on me. Very unprofessional. I tried to make good on the debt but if they are taking this approach then try and get the money from me now. Bottom line is don't let any credit harrass you in this matter. Talk with you local states attorney as well if enough people complain there they might bring about a class action suit. Very Happy

Hey Mikek,

How dare they talk with you like this! Have you file any complaint against them in your states Attorney General's office?

I am in process of filing the complaint with the States Attorney. When I was talking with them I didn't let it bother me, what good would that do? I know credit laws I even read some books on credit counseling and credit laws (No I am not a lawyer) I just studied these for my own personal knowledge. The business practices Geneva Roth Cap/RIO/Loan Point or whatever name they are going by this week is not only unethical but outright illegal. As far as this company "Obtaining" new account info and start withdrawing from a new account without your consent is illegal and criminal activity should be reported to the authorities in the city and state in which they "conduct" business. GRC Emailed the contract to me which I need to go over with a fine toothed comb. If anyone needs to see a copy of the agreement or terms let me know where to email it to.

Below is the email sent to me. I was mistaken there was no "Agreement" or "Terms of Service" included. I thought it had loan papers attached I was wrong. Below also has contact information given to me.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Your $200 loan has been approved. The fee for your loan is just $60. I have your due dates set up on B/W Wednesdays. Your first due date will be 01/02/2007. You must call us at 1-800-351-8820 at least 4 business days before your due date if this is not a correct pay date for you. We will send the extension form via email; if you do not pay the loan in full you will receive updated forms via email 5 days before your next due date. The form will have 3 payment options:

Extend – Which does not put anything towards your balance, it just extends your loan until the next due date.
Pay Down – This option is to pay the extension fee plus put any additional funds that you prefer towards the balance.
Clear Balance – Pay the loan if full.
We ask that you fill that form out and fax it back to us at least 4 business days before your due date, if we do not receive that back from you before the due date, we will automatically pull the extension fee only and extend your loan for you.

Thank you for being our next valued client!

Hi Mikek,

One thing that this will help is make people aware above this company and stay away from them. It is strange that Government is not taking any steps against them.

Hello all. I have been in contact with my local states attorney's office just for some general information and they mentioned to me that it might be possible to bring a class action suit against GRC. I had mentioned a few of the experiences you all have shared and they too feel that GRC is operating with less than legal principles and could be construed as fraud and misrepresentation. Any loans offered from legitimate banks always include contracts terms of service and terms of the loan. All loan documentation must be signed by both parties. After all a verbal contract isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Hence no paperwork, no loan and they are not legally bound to withdrawing from any of your accounts. You may have verbally agreed to the verbal terms explained to you but again if there is no paper trail GRC has no legal rights to your accounts.

Just as an update I received the second phone call from GRC since establishing this so called loan and this time I was speaking with I believe she said her name was Wendy. Oh she was nice as can be because they know I have them over a barrel because I borrowed the money and didn't pay one dime back, well less the $60 they initially. So she was going to try and reestablish a connection. I explained to her the dealings I had with her co-worker and I wasn't getting involved with a company with such rudeness. She asked how will I be repaying the debt and started asking for my checking account # and just for fun I said "what debt I never received any loan papers to sign or seen any contracts and I told her the money to me was a gift so why would I give the gift back?" The hostillity began again she now went into a screaming fit calling me a dead beat and a loser for not paying off my debts. Before she can finish I slammed the phone on her as payback. SHe has tried calling me at least 7 times and then she tried a *67 to hide the number. I answered and said you have the wrong # and slammed the phone on her again. She hasn't called back yet.

Hope this helps
Oh do not get stressed when they call with their scare tactics, have fun with it.
