| I have a loan out with edollars from like 2/06 or around there. I have been dealing with edollars until recently. I called and left them a message that I had to close my checking accout and have opened a new one and needed to set up payment arrangements. I never recieved a phone call until today. Some foreign man called talking that I was commiting fraud and that I will go to court and they will come to my work and house...I calmed down and confronted them about not sending them a payment because if I was being sued or something like that, I wanted something in writing...I accused them of fraud and just trying to get my money. They hung up on me. I called back saying that they could not just call up 2 hours before the money was supposively due and demand it. They would not work with me either, and from past experiences, most companies will work with you if you are willing to make payments. I am planning on calling SJM in the morning to find out what is going on. I can't even get EDollars anymore. Anymore advice on what else to do? |

Hi Susan,
Welcome to our forums.
I think you should contact SJM as soon as possible. There is something fishy going on and you should try to find out exactly what it is because it involves your money. If you are willing to make the payments then the company should have accepted it. I don't understand why they are not willing to work with you when you say that you will pay.
I think the best thing is to talk to them freely and find out what's the matter. Then if you feel like you can consult an attorney to think of some legal actions if they are to be taken.
Thanks,
Caron. |

The 1st thing you should do is ask your bank to stop making any payments to them.
Please refer this for their numbers - http://www.mortgagefit.com/discuss/sjm-marketing.html _________________ Procrastination is the enemy of your financial sucess |

| After this company kept taking $90 payments from my account time after time without ever taking the full payment, I stopped it at my credit union. That was in 2004. Now I am contacted by an attorney who says they are filing suit in 48 hours - which is today! I need any backup and/or help I can get!! Have any of you been threatened with this kind of action! Thanks for any feedback you can give - I'm a single mom and cannot afford this!!! |

Hi Marian,
Don't get frightened by those threats. There are laws to deal with them. Can you afford an good attorney who has dealt with similar cases? They can easily help you out as they are aware of the law.
But I can say you this much from my experience that you are not required panicking from that letter. _________________ Lets help each other. Try my blog |

Sorry to hear about your situation. You can negotiate with the company as they would otherwise continue harassing you I suppose. If possible arrange a payment plan with the company and pay off the total amount.
Ultimately, your credit needs to appear in good shape in front of your future lenders. You can contact and consult with a credit counseling agency to handle your case. |

| Thanks for the replies - The lady who called me was L.D. Goldstein - anyone heard of her? She gave me a case number and told me she is filing suit in my state in 48 hrs. Another person had called me previously and said they were freezing my accounts - I was at work, of course, and asked for a callback number so I could go to another office and speak to them privately. When I called back, it was just a generic answering machine and no one ever called me back. That was months ago. This lady said Platinum B has a cease and desist order and doesn't want to talk to me (even though I've paid them hundreds of dollars on a $300 loan) and she cannot provide me with any information or copy of the agreement. Since this was in 2004, I cannot find my copy of the agreement. I have looked on other sites trying to find info on this company and it seems like their agreement, the customer must contact them and authorize full payment or else they'll just keep deducting the $90. I have used several payday loan companies (unfortunately) and some probably affiliated with Plantinum B - I have never known any not to take what was owed. Has anyone come in contact with this Goldstein woman? Can they freeze my account? Thanks for any feedback! |

Hi Marian,
Don't panic. They can't do anything to you and can't freeze your accounts. I shall advice you to consult an attorney if possible and also you can file a complaint with the BBB and the FTC.
Do you have the payment receipts? That would have helped more. In any case don't get frightened by their threats. In almost all the cases you will find that they do this to extract money from you only and can't do anything.
Another thing you must be aware is that in this case she must provide you with the copy of the agreement on your request. You have rights to get that before you take up any decision. _________________ Lets help each other. Try my blog |

| Thank you. Yes, I do have my bank statements showing the payments. I will call Goldstein back and request a copy of the agreement. I believe I did this in a previous conversation with her, but I will do it again just to be sure I have covered al my bases, so to speak. Then I guess I will contact an attorney, although it will probably cost as much for the attorney, as it would to pay them. |

Marian,
I can understand that it will cost in taking help from an attorney but I feel what Blue said has some value as it can end up trouble forever.
Ultimately you are getting continuous harassment and I guess they don't leave you even at your work place. So, it's better if you can finish this problem from the root.
Check with the bar association of your County for an attorney. You can probably get an attorney within affordable limits there. Do let us know about the outcome. Together we hope to come out of the trouble. |
