I refinanced my home last year and was charged a transfer tax. Is this tandard practice in Florida?

I asked the mortgage company (in Texas) about it - they told me to talk to the title company. Am I getting gauged here?

Hi DeanW,

As far as I know, lenders can charge a transfer tax if you're refinancing the loan. Nevertheless, you should contact a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

Thanks
