| I have a credit card debt that has went to chargeback. I live in Florida and am NOT on the mortgage for my parent's house, I am on the DEED only. What, if anything, can they do to my parent's mortgage? Can they put a lien on the mortgage? My parents do not know about the chargeback. |

A lien is placed on the property and not on the mortgage. As your creditor has charged off the debt, he'll not sue you for it. It is collection agency who will sue you for your debts. As your name is on the property deed, the collection agency can place a lien on it. _________________ Good is the Enemy of Great. |

| Thank you for the information . . . a follow up question. If I keep making payments on the charged off credit card will that slow down the process or possibly stop that from happening? |

Hi Kelly!
Welcome to forums!
As your debt has been charged off, you'll have to pay off the dues to the collection agency and not to your creditor. If you want to directly deal with the creditor, you should contact him and ask him to bring back the account from collections. Once he brings back the account from collections, you can then pay off the dues to him.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
