Wifes credit card debt

Can my wifes cc debt go after our home in florida?
Hi jmccarthy!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I know credit card companies generally do not go after the real estate property. However, they can always sue your wife for the credit card debts.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

HI,

How much do you owe to the credit card company ?

Generally credit card companies report it to the credit bureau & they cannot put lien on the residential property for such a small amount.

Thanks & Regards.

if the accounts go into default and the creditors seek judgment and are successful, then they could, in fact, secure that judgment with a lien on property. making the payments once a judgment is entered would eliminate the concern about a lien. making the payments now, if that's possible, would eliminate all concern.

HI, Yes most of the time they will not take it that far and go after your house. But if the amount is great enough and they take you to court and win and get a judgement then yes they can seek the house and sell it for the amount owed.

to the contrary, no credit card company is going to "seek a house and sell it for the amount owed." first of all, if there is a mortgage on the property, that takes precedence; taxes are an even higher priority lien.

companies file judgment liens in the hope that they'll get paid eventually, not so that they can then foreclose.

6,000.00 owed and we do have a mortgage and its homesteaded as well.

my opinion is that you need not worry about them placing any liens.

that's just opinion, mind you.

Yes 6k is not that much as they will not take that too far. So dont worry about losing your house or anything in that nature.

Have you tried looking at some of the 0% APR or low rate cards and pay off this card debt gradually?

Probably you ar epayign high interest on this debt.

Lot of times you get these offers in mail, just pay attnetion and it is advisable to apply for prearroved offeres.
