I receive Social Security Disability, because I was ran down by a car a few years ago and no longer can work, and I want to claim the Florida Property tax exemption of 100% disable and I need to know if I can, as Social Security will not but down the 100% in their letter. ( they won't do it for any one) What can I do?
Thanks Jim

Hi
There are various types of property tax exemptions available for the disabled in the state of Florida. A disability exemption of $500 is available to those the Florida residents who are permanently disabled. Complete exemption from property tax is available to a quadriplegic who is using the property as a homestead. Another total disability exemption is meant for those who are permanently disabled and use wheelchair for mobility. You should contact the concerned authority regardig this. You can also take assistance from a tax expert to know how you can avail those exemptions. |

| I am 100% due to the current occupation in Iraq. I live in Texas but I'm trying to help a friend in Florida do this also. When I did it, I just went Down to the local courthouse annex and they filed the paperwork for me in less than 10 minutes. My suggestion is for. You to find your. Local tax office which is usually located. In a downtown area, and file there like I did. All I brought was a letter from the va showing my percentage rating stating that I was eligible for the exemption. |
