A friend of mine is going through a dispute with his grandmother she and him signed into a

mortgage together and when his wife left she stopped the payment coupons from coming to his

address he did'nt make the payments but had been in the house for 7 years she then filed

for eviction to reclaim the property he whent to legal aid and they filed for a stay on the

eviction well when he whent to court the judge tried to get him to sign over the house to

the grandmother he refused and the judge awarded the grandmother with the eviction and

entered final judgement for eviction, his name is still on the mortgage so can his still

collect any money on the property on the basis that he has had a shared interest in it for

7 years? and how? the property is in florida.

Hi shark!

Welcome to Forums!

Once your friend is evicted from the property, the grandmother does not have any right to collect money from him. However, as your friend's name is still on the mortgage, then the mortgage company may ask him to pay the mortgages. The grandmother should refinance and transfer the mortgage in her name.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

Hi shark!

If your friend's name is still on the mortgage, then the mortgage company can ask him to pay the mortgage. It will be better if his grandmother refinances it and transfers the mortgage in her name.

Thanks,

Jerry
