Am I as my husbands wife in the state of Florida, required to sign a mortgage when i am not signing on the loan and will not be be on the deed?

Will i be financially responsible if the loan defaults but will have no rights to the property?

Hi Dianne,

If you are not on the property deed, you do not need to sign the mortgage docs. If your name is on the mortgage deed, then you will be responsible for paying the loan amount in case of default. If your name is not on the property deed, then you won't have ownership rights to the property.

if you really want a legal question answered, you ought to take said question to a legal expert - in Florida. i don't mean to disparage adonis' answer, but if he is located in alaska (per his profile), then i'd suspect his expertise in florida law might be limited.
