How do I find what bank holds the mortgage on a foreclosed property?

Hi Janwils,

If possible, contact the owner of the property. He/she should be able to give you the information. You can also check who the current owner of the property is with the land recorder's office. If the property has been foreclosed and sold at the auction, the name of the current owner of the property should show on the records.

i am alarmed.

as if the owner of a property that's in foreclosure wants to speak to a perfect stranger about who the lender is. and yes, if the foreclosure has already taken place, then the lender is the owner (unless someone else picked it up at auction or in the meantime).
