Mortgage liability

Posted on: 27th Feb, 2009 01:42 pm
Am I liable for my husband's mortgage? My name is not on the mortgage - only my husband's name. He bought the house before we were married. If we were to foreclose, would that impact my credit score along with his? We're in Nevada.

Thanks

hey this (lowering of your credit score) will only happen if the property is co owned by both husband and wife.

Since you told that it is on only your husbands name, your credit score will not be affected at all.

the person is liable for that mortgage where his name is mentioned. If you are having ancestral property where mortgage is still due, then also it won't affect your score if you have properly insured that property.
