Hi soniasimms,

You are not responsible for the mortgage if you did not sign on the promissory note. The mortgage was in your wife and her uncle's name. You do not have any liability towards the mortgage. She cannot make you pay the difference from the foreclosure.

Legally no unless the judge who is handling your divorce orders you to pay some or all of that.

Hi soniasimms,

As you mentioned that your name is not there on the mortgage deed nor you signed a promissory note, be rest assured, you are not responsible for the mortgage. If she cannot pay for the mortgage then she is liable for it and the lender will not bother you for that.
