I have a house that is in another state and we just learned that it has mold. I am afraid it won't sell and can't rent it. If it goes into foreclosure because we can't make the payment what will we be responsible to pay. Is there help out there for houses with mold?

Hi sewluvable,

Welcome to forums.

Are you having problems with the mortgage on your home? and is the home already on sale? has the lender spoken of foreclosure yet? There are insurances for mold but i don't think you have applied for one. In that case, if possible, look out for ways to control damage due to mold. That's the only way i think to stay fine in this home. Just go through the page at http://www.epa.gov/mold/moldbasics.html , it says how you can get rid of molds and will perhaps help you do so.

Thanks

No I am not having problems now but I am just wondering if worse comes to worse. Yes we do have insurance and they are coming tomorrow to check out the extent of the problem. I just don't want my kids and grandkids living there if it is a health risk and they are the ones paying for the house. How can we sell if it has a history of mold. So I thought what will we do, we are on social security and can not

Hi sewluvable,

Welcome back.

To sell out the property you can simply contact a real estate agent. Hope he will help you out to sell the property for you. You may need to pay a certain amount of fee to him but it will be helpful to sell the property quickly.

Best of luck.
Larry
