I LIVE IN MACON, GA. MY DAD LIVES IN ST. PETE, FLORIDA. AT 30 IN1990 MY DAD SENT ME PAPERS(DEEDS) ON HIS HOUSE TO SIGN. I DID SO AND SENT THEM BACK. IT'S NOW 2009 ABD MY DAD AND I HAD A FALLING OUT AND HAVE NOT SPOKEN IN THREE YEARS. MY DAD SENT ME A QUIT CLAIM FORM THROUGH HIS LAWYER FOR ME TO SIGN OFF ON. MY DAD SENT A LETTER IN HIS HAND WRITTING EXPLAINING THAT HE'S GETTING IN AGE AND HE DIDNT WANT TO LIVE IN THE AREA HE WAS IN ANYMORE AND THAT IF I SIGN HE WOULD SEND ME MONEY. I KEPT DIDNT RESPOND TO THE LAWYERS QUIT CLAIM FORM NOR MY DADS LETTER. THIS YEAR IN JANUARY I FINALLY CALLED MY DAD AND THIS LADY ANSWERED THE PHONE. ITHEN SPOKE WITH MY DAD AND WENT ON TO INFORM ME THE LADY I SPOKE WITH WAS HIS WIFE. I KNOW MY DAD MARRIED TO GET ME OFF HIS DEED. MT QUESTION IS: CAN MY DAD TAKE ME OFF HIS DEEDS LEGALLY THIS WAY, BY GETTING MARRIED ? AND DO I HAVE ANY RIGHTS TO HIS PROPERTY NOW THAT HE IS MARRIED?

Nope

He cannot remove your name fromthe property by ust gettign married

If you singed that quit claim deed then you will not have any onwership on that property

If he is goign to pay you money then do warranty in deed

Hi WANDA,

If your name is on the property deed, then your father won't be able to remove it only by getting married. You will have to sign the quitclaim deed and transfer the property in his favor. Once you do so, your father would become the owner of the property. As you haven't signed the property deed back into his name, you are still one of the owners of the property.

Thanks

no doubt that you are coowner of house. you can sell it back to your father. it would be right as you are not living in it.
