Can the lender change the interest charged on the mortgage?
Welcome to mortgagefit..

Once the contract is signed, lender can not change the interest without prior intimation. But it can be changed with mutual agreement. But lender can never charge more than prime lending rate + limit given by central bank.

this thread ought to be dumped. steve, you claim to be an expert in some posts, and then a neophyte in others. what is the deal?

manoj's answer is meaningless, as it doesn't even address the chance that you're discussing a variable rate loan - but of course you didn't make any mention of that either.

and please, manoj...what is this "prime lending rate + limit given by central bank" thing?

please, both of you...if you are discussing something that is endemic to a country other than the united states, it needs to be stated plainly.
