Hi , my friend has the mortgage in his name and he wants to move abroad , and i want to take over the mortgage in my name . Can we transfer over the mortgage fully into my name or would his name remain on the mortgage. How do i go about changing the name over?

If you wish to take this loan on your name then your friend must have to refinance this mortgage on your name.To refinance mortgage you have to contact your attorney.

Hi Mohammed,

You need to refinance the mortgage in your name to remove your friend's name from the mortgage. If you refinance in your name, you will have the responsibility of repaying the loan. Your friend will be free from all loan-related liabilities. He will no longer be held responsible for the mortgage. But you need to have a decent credit score and income to qualify for the refinance. Where does your credit score stand? Do you have any other debts?
