Just curious how it works in the state of TN. My fiance will be purchasing our home in his name only. Therefore, his name will only be on the mortgage. But, both of our names will be on the deed. Will most mortgage companies in TN allow this?

Hi larry,

Most lenders would allow your fiancé to be on the mortgage, while both his and your names are on the property deed. You can have an ownership interest on the property, but that does not make you liable for the mortgage. If you do not want to responsible for the loan, you can choose to not sign on the mortgage note.
