In Illinois, will my new husband be responsible for my credit card and my mortgage if I should die first?.....and vice versa? I have virtually no assets since my mortgage is worth more than the house on the market now, but he does have some assets. Thanks

Hi ladybug!

Welcome to forums!

If you are the sole owner of the credit card, then your husband won't be liable for your debts if you pass away. However, if it's a joint account, then your husband will be liable for the debts.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
