We live in Indiana. My husband bought a home prior to our getting married, and we now want to add my name to the deed. He has a mortgage on the property. What needs to be done to add my name to the deed? He doesn't want to refinance as he has a great rate and will have it paid off in 2.5 years. Thanks!

a simple quit claim deed would do the job for you. technically, you ought to notify your lender of this change in title, but the reality of it is that if you never miss a payment on the mortgage, it won't really become an issue.

Hi lharrison!

Welcome to forums!

I agree with George that your husband can add you to the property deed with the help of a quitclaim deed. You should definitely inform the lender before adding your name to the property. Once the deed is filled out properly, you need to notarize and record it at the county recorder's office.
