My ex-partner and I own a house together, I have applied for a loan modification to see if I qualify for the mortgage on my own to take over ownership. What else do I need to do to make sure her name is taken off everything pertaining to the house i.e deed, title?
you can ask her to sign a quit claim deed in your name. also you can refinance mortgage in your name
i think you can ask him/her to just sign a quit claim deed and record it in the county, it will take some dollars and then you are done. I think you do not need to refinance sine that cost much more than have him/her sign quit claim deed.Hope this helps.
