I am currently going through a divorce I want to know the quickest way to get my name off the lien so I can purchase a house on my own. The mortgage company won't lend me money until my name is off his house.

You need to satisfy the current obligation. Either the ex will need to refinance in their name or you will need to sell and pay it off.

No other way to do it....

Good Luck

Hi Guest.

Welcome to the forum.

Brain has given you very smart advice Smile Just pay the lender off. That is the quickest way to get the lien out of your name. Now if you are talk about mortgage then the other mortgage lender can refinance the mortgage on his/her name only. If he doesn't want to refinance then you can file partition lawsuit. That will help you to sell the property and the lender off.

Take a look at the forum discussion to know how partition lawsuit works at http://www.mortgagefit.com/know-how/removecoborrower.html

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best of luck,
Larry

you can pay for your lender, this is the quickest method to make you name removed from the lien. you can also do a quit cliam to your spouse, if he or she is willing and agree to pay for the lender by himsrelf or herself.
