Hey there,

I am a journalist who is working on a story for Page Six Magazine about how the whole subprime fiasco and rickety markets are affecting New York apartment owners. I am looking for female apartment owners (in the 25 to 45 age range) in the city (any borough) who bought an apartment and are now having problems—either your payments went up to the point where you are thinking about or had to sell, you're worried about foreclosure, or in the worst-case scenario had your apartment foreclosed on.

If this is you or someone you know, please email me (kate.torgovnick@gmail.com) as soon as you can. I'd be honored to tell your story.

Thanks so much!

Hi Kate,

You have made a great idea as I also feel that if the stories of such persons are reported, then some organization may come forward for monetary assistance and help these people from getting out of foreclosure.

No Suzy,

This idea may not help them because they might fall trap to predatory lending. There are some predatory lenders who might take advantage of the situation and make these people take a loan with lower rates but actually will charge higher rates. And in the urge to avoid foreclosure, these borrowers may ultimately land up in getting a bad deal.
