my name isn't on the property prior to or after the marriage, we seperated and i move out of state. he is now wanting to sell his home, he owes back taxes and getting ready to face criminal charges. he is saying his realestate agent is requesting I sign a quitclaim deed. I feel I shouldn't due to I do not own the property and it is in kansas and kansas isn't a community state.

Hi regina,

If your name is not on the property deed, then you won't be considered as the owner of the property. In such a situation, you won't have to sign the quit claim deed.

Thanks,

Jerry
