I have been divorced for over three years since 2007. My husband was making the house payments until Nov. of 2009. He then went into a coma and was sick for a while. Now he is better but cannot afford the house payments. It has been over a year. I am trying to get a loan mod. but cannot do that because his name is on the house. In our divorce decree he was supposed to get the house but nothing ever came of that. I have been living in the house the whole time and even he was living with me for about a year. Now he lives in Georgia. I want the house but was told I had to get his name off. What should I do? Thank you

Hi tfliggins!

Welcome to forums!

You should ask your husband to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property. Once you become the owner of the property, you'll be able to apply for a loan modification on your own.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
