A rich person on vail point road in st augustine is sueing the county about enforcement laws of dock permits, he lost 5 to 0 in the semi judical commisioners hearing in appeal.
he is now sueing, however he is willing to mediate with a no parking sign put up on an entrance to the shores holiday lake and intracoatal waTERWAY ON THE OTHERSIDE of the road.
the county is coinsidering this blackmail in order to avoid the court case.
The question is adverse possesion laws ? parking by families has been in place at this location since the 40<s.
The rich persons claim is to stop me from parking across from my gate on public land to a dock i own !
can adverse posseion come to play here to prevent the county from giving in to the blackmail as there is no other safety or reason to stop parking there. plenty of room and prior use can be proved?

Hi Hayford,

As I know, adverse possession cannot prevent it. The law deals with real property of any person. It does not posses regulation on the city property.

Hi Ehayford,

Adverse Possession law deals with real property by which someone other than the title holder to the property gains title to the land. When you have mentioned that the parking place is part of the public land, then the adverse possession law cannot prevent you from parking there as it has no connection with any public property. So, you need not worry much.
