Hello,

I recently filled out for a mortgage and lied on my application. I said I completed college when I actually never finished. With only 20 credits to completion, my mind wrote yes.

I'm so screwed. What should I do?

Hi markgage.

Welcome to the forum.

Why have you lied? Now if you have good credit and do have the ability to pay the monthly payments, then you shouldn't have much problem. Why are you lender saying?

Best of luck,
Larry

Well graduation from college typically wont affect your mortgage application so I don't think you need to worry too much. Just don't lie in the future.

Mark,
Most loan officers don't even ask that questions on applications. If you never even went to Kindergarden you would be fine.

Yeah, I thought it was weird.. The only reason is because my fiance has her masters, but when we met, I didn't think it would be serious. I'm trying to complete my last 20 credits now so that I can tell her the truth. The hardest secret of my life and I wish I just told her 4 years ago, she would have supported me to finish then. This was a joint application. I thought it was weird to see it actually.

The question is how many years of school not did you graduate.
Do the right thing TELL HER. She will find out eventually.....
Almost 22 years of maried experience to glean from......
She will getover it just come clean and stop worrying about it....

i would think you'd obtain forgiveness easily enough. no need to concern yourself with lying on the mortgage application - you're not likely to get prosecuted for telling the loan interviewer the wrong number of years of education.
