After my girlfriend died i was told by the mortgage company to get a copy of the death certificate & to go to the court house & get what they called ( Executiveship documents ) this was for me to get on the mortgage as a third party since im on the deed but not the mortgage the court house said they did not know what i meant by executive ship documents they thought i was talking about a small estate affidavit. My question is do you know what they meant by ( Executiveship documents ) .

Thanks help.

this is truly not a mortgage-related question, but i believe that what you may be talking about is "executorship" instead of executive ship. please be sure not to rely on mortgage "professionals" to lead you through the legal process! Wink
we are not renowned for our legal prowess, after all.

did your girlfriend have a will; or is there family involved who might know of the existence of some such document? i suspect there is much more here than what the lender is mentioning.

the basic meaning of an executor is one who carries out the desires expressed in a deceased person's will. the bank (probably doesn't know any better) has erroneously asked you to file such paperwork. if there is no will, there is nothing to be executed. you may wish to go to your local probate court to ask for additional information.

In order to collect from the auto insurance that coveed my husband, he was killed in car accident, I was told to go to cout to get executership of the car title, since it was only in his name.
