I have a satisfactory homeowners policy that come up for renewal next month. I have not itemized art work, books, furnishings and music and would like to have these things appraised and included in my policy.

I live in an attached townhouse in Greenwich CT which I own outright.

Hey Marc,

It sounds like you would need to look for a personal property appraiser. There are personal property appraisers that specialize in specific types of personal property such as art. The problem is, for the number and variety of items, you may be talking to several different appraisers.

As for the insurance policies, I am not sure how that works. I don't think it would be added into a standard homeowners policy, it will likely be a separate policy for the individual items if you want that specific coverage. I may be wrong, but I am sure an insurance agent could help you with that.

You need a "personal property endorsement" added to your homeowners insurance policy. First, you'll need to get all your personal property appraised.
