I gave her a quit claim deed for the property. If I sign, will my name be removed from the mortgage? _________________ Need help choosing the right loan? You have signed the quitclaim deed the property but you are still on the mortgage? With the loan modification your name can be removed but it depend s on the lender and your ex-wife. So talked to then and checked out whether your name is out of the mortgage documents. Best of luck, Larry

The quitclaim will not help you take off your name from the mortgage. I guess you'll have to be a part of the loan modification unless your ex refinances the loan in his name.
