Do you know why our loan officer would want w2s from 2003-2008 for employment verification?

My guess would be he wants to make sure you really are making what you say you have been making for a long period of time. but honestly, This sounds a bit excessive. Usually, if you are a W-2 employee, which it looks like you are. Typically, 2 years is the max they will go back if they do ask, sometimes 3 if you are self employed or a commissioned employee. Ask your loan officer if he wants 4 years or if the lender is asking for 4 years. Sometimes loan officers get carried away and ask for more stuff than they need.

This is my personal opinion, I would definitely ask him why he needs it and see what he says as well. Good luck on getting the mortgage. Smile

Actually, that doesn't "sound" a bit excessive - it's outright ridiculous.

As for loan officers getting carried away, most want to deal with as little paperwork as possible; so asking for 2003-2008 is way out of character and, again, ridiculous.

Push back - there's no need for all that excessive paperwork (and inconvenience to you).

Wow...thank you for the quick response...Im really at my wits end with this loan officer....he is now asking for letters of explanation that I gave him over a month ago....on the same issues...what he doesnt keep copies of things he requests? I feel hes making me jump through hoops and my nerves are shot. I have to much money invested now but Im tired of playing this game.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience! George is correct when he says "it's outright ridiculous!" Next is blood samples and high school report cards. Find another loan officer...immediately if not sooner.

Theo forgot about the fingerprints, of course...if you feel you have too much money invested in this knucklehead (hope that passes the censors), then you need to find his sales manager and/or the office manager and anyone else who might have some cojones so as to take away this nitemarish behavior.

I can understand the desire to see this through to the gory end, but you do recognize, I hope, that there often comes a time when we have to cut our losses and move on.
