Refund check lost

If a person lost his refund check. How can he get a new one?

Hi Richosasimohan,

You need to call IRS at 800-829-1954 and inform about it. If the refund check hasn't been cashed then a replacement would be provided within 6-8 weeks.

But if the check has been cashed then Financial Management Service will provide check's copy & a Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund (Form 3911) for initiating a claim.

Another thing is that before determining whether another refund can be issued or not, the signatures on the cancelled check will be reviewed.
