What about a case where someone (my family member) bought a house recently and had his live-in caregiver's name added to the deed with right of survivorship (he is elderly and in the very early stages of alzheimers but still very sound of mind). Now the family member is afraid of this caregiver and wants him out of the house and off the deed. If the caregiver refuses to sign a quit claim, what are the procedures to get him taken off.

Hi blondepegasus!

Welcome to forums!

The caregiver will have ownership rights to the property as his or her name is added to the property deed. Unless the caregiver signs the deed, you won't be able to remove him/her from the property deed. You should contact a real estate attorney and check out if he or she can help you in this matter.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
