I am single with no dependents, never married. I live with my mother who is ill . If she passes will the State of Texas make me move out and sell her house?

Welcome spaz,

If the property is in your name and if you've paying for the maintenance as well as the property taxes, then the state won't take away the property from you.

Welcome to Mortgagefit Spaz

Can you give us a little more details about what is going on in your situation? I've heard of a few cases like this, but they usually refer to people getting reverse mortgages or their home , thus not leaving it to the children. But it goes to a private party, not the State/Government

Are there any back taxes or liens against the property?

But does she not have a will? I would suggest you to have her make one so when she does pass that you or your family will get the property. But on a normal case, I don't see why you would not get the house.

Please fill us in with a little more details so we can know what is going on and be able to answer you better.

Thank you.
