I have been married to my husband for 25years, we have been paying our mortgage on our home for 17 years. My father in law got us a private mortgage with a friend whom is a lawyer. My father in law died 3 years
Ago, and now we find out that the deed to our home is in his name only.
His wife is alive, but he never had a will. My husband now wants a divorce
And I would like to know if this home is half mine. I have been paying this mortgage for 17 years. Confused in nj.

Hi Guest,

As your name is not mentioned on the property deed, it will be difficult for you to claim any ownership in the property though you've paid the mortgage. Nevertheless, I will suggest you to contact an attorney and take his/her opinion in this matter.
