Please note that there is no official loan programs as such by FHA, as FHA only provide federal insurance for a mortgage loan. The loan as such may be issued by federally qualified lenders if the home owner qualify. These qualified lenders are available on the HUD website under www.hud.gov/ll/code/llplcrit.html or on the FHA website using their lender search engine http://locator.fha.gov Many lenders are qualified. Other resources include 'www.mortgageloan.com/fha-mortgage' (where you can get mortgage rates from FHA approved lenders). If you want to look up specifics regarding loan limit amounts, there is a handy search function based on zip code on 'www.mortgage101.com/partner-scripts/1096.asp'
I dont know if this is what you are looking for, but note that there are many other local programs as well, and these days many new ones have been launched. In order to find further info, I would use the site (that only searches governmental sites) www.usa.gov , and search for additional home owner (or mortgage assistance) programs.
I did look into the HUD site and there's a lot of information there. Thanks for the details, it can help anyone who's looking to get FHA loans, me too. _________________ Procrastination is the enemy of your financial sucess
Good point ernestdaae. And to expand on that the fact is the lenders, not FHA, decide who they are willing to lend money to. That is why some FHA lenders seem to approve everyone, and some of them won't approve even good credit. It all depends on the underwriter and the team around them.
All lenders are different and even when they have published guidelines, they are not set in stone. A lender, especially FHA lenders, decide on a case by case basis and approvals are based on complete loan files and compensating factors. _________________ Eric Matthews
