My name was put on a deed held by my daughter and son in law as a life estate by use of a quitclaim deed. We now find it necessary to remove my name. What is the best way to do this?

Thank you,
Red

Hi Redwave,

Welcome to the forum.

Is it that you have added your daughter and son in law on the deed and now again want to remove your name from the deed? If so then you can simply quitclaim your share of the property to them.

BTW why are you willing to quitclaim although you are on the deed with life estate?

Best of luck,
Larry

Welcome Jan,

It's simple! just get a quitclaim deed form and fill it out. Then get it notarized and recorded at the Registrar of Deeds. Check out for more at http://www.mortgagefit.com/quitclaim-deed.html . By the way, where do you stay? just asking so that I can provide you with a sample quitclaim form for that particular state itself.
