| My name was on the deed only- not the mortgage (nor have I ever been on a mortgage) of the house that my EX-husband built. We divorced in 2006. I am currently buying my first home by myself. Would I be considered a first-time home buyer? |

Hi my2baseballboyz,
If you did not own a property for the past three years, then you will be considered as a first time home buyer and you will get all the benefits of a first time home buyer.
Thanks |

| As far as I know, you will be able to get the tax credit benefit. However, do consult a tax adviser regarding this. |

Hi Flowerpurr,
I don't think you can qualify for the tax credit, because to qualify you must not have owned a home for the past 3 years. As you purchased a home and have your name on its title, I doubt whether you would be considered a first time home buyer. |

Hi keke,
If your name is mentioned in the property deed, then you won't be considered as a first time buyer. If your name is only on the mortgage docs, then you would be considered as a "first time homebuyer".
Thanks |
