I had a girlfriend and we were not married, and we signed together for a property and so I am on mortgage and deed with her. She is living in the property and refuses to sell or refinance and now I want to get out of this partnership so I can move on. What can I do?

Welcome jjdaisies,

You can file a partition lawsuit in the court. The court will judge the whole situation and may order the sale of the property. Once the property is sold off, you will be out of this partnership. After the property is sold off, your mortgage would be paid off first. If there is an excess amount, it would be divided amongst both of you.
