I have a salaried income but don't have any commission. How long must I be employed with a firm in order to get a mortgage?

Hi Xandra,

I haven't heard of any specific time period that you need to be employed with a firm in order to be qualified for a mortgage. However, lenders will check 2 years of employment history before approving you for a mortgage.

Take care.

If you have a 2 year history in the same line of work, then you should be able to get a loan, if your credit is sufficient. If you were in a completely different field of work and recently changed, then you would need 2 years of employment with your new company. Also if you were a student and recent graduate, then started to work, a lender will use your school as work history.
