Maryland residents. My husband and I filed Chapter 7 is 2007 choosing to not include our home. My credit report reflects that our mortgage was included in the Chapter 7. Still struggling to make our mortgage payments we put our house up for short sale, 6 months later it's still sitting. We are now considering a deed in lieu, if we choose this option can the mortgage company report it to the credit beauru? Chapter 7 was discharged in 2008

Hi Teri,

As far as I know, the lender can report the deed in lieu of foreclosure to the credit bureaus and there are chances that it will negatively affect your credit report.

Take care.
