My brother and I share ownership of a house that we live in. I am moving out and leaving the state of Ma. His name comes first on the mortage and then mine because financially he makes more money than I. However my brother will still be living in the house. I just need to get my name off the Deed/Mortage.

Hi m42d67a,

In order to remove your name from the property deed, you'll have to sign a quitclaim deed in the name of your brother. Once the property is transferred and deed is recorded at the county recorder's office, your brother will have to refinance it and transfer the mortgage in his name.

Thanks
