Hi

I am thinking about filing chapter 7 bankruptcy in michigan. I just had a baby and really see no other way out. The child care plus basic care she needs has me to the point where I do not have money for myself to eat. I am also including my house in the bankruptcy and moving back in with my parents. My question is though once I file do I have to leave the home right away?

Hi Guest,

As far as I know, you won't have to leave the property immediately after filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The bankruptcy court would give you some time to stay in that property. Once you surrender the property, you will have to leave it immediately.
