Meaning, if I wanted to be approved for a morgage, and purchase a home without my spouse--is that allowed/legal?

Hi,

I think Michigan is not a community property state. So I hope you can be approved for a mortgage and purchase the home.

Thanks,
Larry

Hello Anf,

You can always get an approval for a mortgage and purchase a house in your name only, there is nothing illegal in that.

Michigan is not a community property state either, so your spouse will not have any interest in the property if he is not on the title.
