My fiance and I live in Michigan and are getting married before we buy a house together. Since I currently own a two family home could my wife buy a house in her name after were married to get first time home buyer incentives and avoid paying a large down payment?

Thanks,

Hi vanportd!

Welcome to forums!

If your wife has not owned a property in the last 3 years, then she can apply for first time homebuyer's incentives. However, as you own two properties, you won't be able to qualify for any incentives and you won't be considered as a first time homebuyer.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
