Can I transfer personal property, such as a piano, to my children by way of a quit claim deed? I live in Michigan and this is property I am receiving in a divorce. Should I do a UCC filing instead? The items are worth over 30,000 dollars.

Hi smetanka,

Quit claim deed is used to transfer real estate property from one person to another. As Piano is a personal property, I don't think you would be able to transfer it through a quit claim deed.

Thanks
