Hello,

My father passed away about a year ago. He had a home free and clear and there are 4 of us on the will with equal shares. My oldest brother wants to quit claim the house to me and my husband. To fully own the home do the other 2 siblings have to sign off also for us to have complete ownership? We live in Michigan.

Also, what are the federal and state tax ramifications on me.

Hey aaapril !

First of all, sorry to hear about your father, you have my condolences.
Now, in order to have the property strictly under you and your husband’s name, everyone who is on the deed must sign the quit claim. This in turn will leave you and your husband the owners of the property, with full responsibility of payments, taxes, etc.
Hope this helped you!

Best Regards,

Yes, signatures of all your siblings are required. Then only you and your husband can become the owner of the home.
