My mom and her boyfriend just brought a house together. Her name is not on the loan, but 4 wks later they filed a quit claim deed to add her name. now they are into it and he is threatening to take her name off of it. I know the only way that he can do this is by going to court. How likely is it for the judge to take her name off? (missouri)

Hi pfunkstl,

As your mother's name is on the property deed, she is one of the owners of the property. No one can force her to remove her name from the deed. The boyfriend will be able to remove his name from the deed only if she signs a deed in his favor. The judge will ask her to sign the deed only if he finds any valid reason to do so. Your mother can contact an attorney and take actions against the boyfriend.
