NACA programs - Are they really helpful?

Posted on: 06th May, 2007 07:38 am
Can anyone shed light on an organization named Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America? Are they legitimate & helpful or just a bunch of hype? See the link:

Welcome sharyn,

NACA has it's office at Wisconsin. The contact details would be:
4011 West Capitol Drive
Milwaukee, WI 53216-2557
(414) 442-6222

You should get in touch with them in order to know whether or not they would be able to help you in this regard.

Patience, most lenders have "events" at which you can speak with a counselor; alternatively, NACA has "events" as well...you didn't say where you're located, but do an internet search for NACA and see if there's a local entity. By the same token, you can certainly reach out to them by telephone if there's no local office. They're definitely advocates for people in your situation, and it's worth the time and trouble to reach them.

Andrew, you are barking up the wrong tree, I'm afraid. You need to locate NACA directly - I'm amazed that you wouldn't know how to contact them. Look them up with an internet search, or check the yellow pages, or contact your lender directly to find out what's happening.

Banks have the finale say on modifications - not NACA. You have to pay! period. There is a $50 monthly membership fee and according to how much your loans is : $99k or less = $3k $100k-200k = $4,500 and over $200k=$6,000 in dues. All of this can be confirmed on their website. Most people have a home loan over $200k so to get your loan modified you will have to pay out $6k to them - period. (yes it is spread out over ten years though) Only about 20% of people actually get a modification. NACA is a big dog and pony show that shows you how to do the paper work. ($6k ?) O and by the way, NACA is also paid $500 for each modification they send that makes three consecutive payments. fact!
Dont believe any of this? call them - o wait you'll never be able to speak to a live person.

I was told about the NACA loan program by a friend.. In the past 3 mos. I have had financial hardship due to a unexpected death in family.. MY loved one did not have any insurance which caused me to scrape up money for a burial. The circumstances has caused me to be late on a couple of my mortgage payments. I would like additional information on the qualifications / criteria in becoming eligible for some help.

hi bbeacon,

if you have equity in your property, then you will be able to refinance both the mortgages into one. however, if your property is upside down, you won't get the option of refinancing.
